The Alligator

​At the heart of our logo is the alligator—our university’s iconic mascot. The alligator’s stoic expression represents strength, composure, and readiness, traits that mirror the values of military service.

Notably, the alligator faces the opposite direction from the traditional Athletic Association logo. This design choice is a deliberate homage to the Reverse Flag worn on military uniforms, which symbolizes always moving forward, even in the face of challenges. This subtle yet powerful detail honors the determination and forward-thinking mindset of those who serve.

The Circular Emblem

The circular design of the logo is inspired by military challenge coins, a long-standing tradition used to commemorate service, celebrate unity, and signify membership in a special group. Like a challenge coin, this emblem serves as a token of honor, connection, and shared values. It’s a timeless tribute to service and camaraderie, embodying the pride of our alumni community.

The Colors

The colors in our logo tell a deeper story, blending the heritage of the University of Florida with the honored traditions of military service:

• Orange and Blues: These rustic colors reflect iconic symbols of the university, such as Century Tower and the Liberty Pond. They are a reminder of our vibrant campus, rich history, and the spirit of the Gator Nation.

 

• Green, Khaki, and Red: These muted tones are a tribute to the branches of the U.S. Military, representing the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Space Force, and Coast Guard. They symbolize service, discipline, and the sacrifices made by those in uniform.

 

Together, these colors weave a story of pride, resilience, and unity—bridging the traditions of the university with the values of military service.

The Typography & Texture

The bold, serif typography speaks to formality and tradition, while the distressed texture gives the logo a vintage, worn-in feel—reminiscent of military patches and badges. It’s a celebration of history, perseverance, and excellence.
